In the next of our series introducing members of staff, #DULibIntroducing meets Customer Service Assistant Trevor Bailey
Please state your name, full job title, and a brief description of what your job entails:
My name is Trevor Bailey, and I work as a Customer Service Assistant in the Bill Bryson Library. The main focus of my job is the issue and return of library books to and from students, and ensuring their return to the bookshelves ready for another user. We also cover the Help and Information desk from 5:00 pm, dealing with the various enquiries that are received.
How long have you worked in the library?
I am now in my 6th week here at the University.
What would you say is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?
There is a friendly, helpful atmosphere in the BBL which is generated by the staff, and which makes it an excellent place to work.
When you’re not at work, what do you enjoy doing?
When I’m not at work I enjoy reading, playing golf and walking my black Labrador, Ebony. I also enjoy holidaying in my apartment in Spain.
What are you reading at the moment, and would you recommend it?
I am presently reading Simon Scarrow’s “Rebellion”, of the “Eagles of the Empire” series, and, having read the whole series from the start, I can highly recommend it to anyone who likes historical fiction.
What song always gets you on the dance floor/to the karaoke machine?
The song that always gets me on the dance floor is Tina Turner’s “Simply the Best”; I can’t sing, BUT, if anyone put Dire Straits’ “Romeo and Juliet on the karaoke and asked me to sing it, I wouldn’t be able to resist!
